Portland Street Photos
For this project, I walk the streets of Portland with my camera and an eye out for interesting people and unusual or humorous situations. I look for evocative light, sometimes a sense of ambiguity that is familiar or has an element of mystery or surprise, something that in the moment draws me in. As with all street photography, it requires many miles of walking, thousands of pictures taken and discarded, and a lot of time editing and printing in the digital darkroom. I try to make pictures that are strong enough to stand on their own but that taken together are a personal vision that tells a story of the enduring humanity of our wonderful small city.
